The South Hill Police Department is committed to maintaining close ties with citizens and promoting a realistic understanding of how community needs are addressed by police services. One of the ways we seek to accomplish this goal is through the Ride-Along Program.
This program allows citizens to ride with a uniformed patrol officer see firsthand how law enforcement officers perform their duties. Citizens have a chance to speak at length with an officer and discuss issues, voice concerns, and ask questions. Ride-Along participants also will learn about different facets of their community and its citizens.
To particpate in the Ride-Along program you can come to the Police Department and pick up an application which needs to be returned prior to your ride-along. All requests must be approved by the Chief Of Police before riding.
